Collecting Crackers Continues

I am happy to report that despite this being a vacation week, we received more donations. Today I picked up 3 cans of tuna and 11 boxes of crackers.

This brings us up to 78 cans of tuna and 65 boxes of crackers. Since our monthly goal is 70 of each, we have now reached our goal for tuna and still need five boxes of crackers for the distribution on January 10th.

FYI: Extra large boxes of crackers still only count as one box toward our goal. If you are considering buying one super-sized box, it is better to contribute 2 regular-sized boxes of about 10-12 ounces each. Our commitment of 70 boxes is based on boxes that size. Of course, all sizes are welcome and appreciated.

Please bring contributions to the bin, conveniently located near the lower level entrance. Religious School is in the middle of a two week vacation so contributions from the rest of the congregations are more important than usual. Every bit helps.

More food despite the snow

Despite the snow, more contributions of tuna and crackers were delivered to the synagogue this week.
We collected 46 cans of tuna and 32 boxes of crackers.

Someone even contributed a 12-pack of tuna. I've never seen that before.

This brings us up to 75 tunas and 54 boxes of crackers. Since our goal is 70 of each, we have now reached our goal for tuna and we still need 16 boxes of crackers for the January distribution. Here you see them accumulating in my living room.

Collecting donations at the Hanukkah party

A few weeks ago, the temple educator offered to set up a table for me during tonight's Hanukkah party so I could collect money to buy more crackers. Lately, we have received more than enough donations of tuna, but we are falling short collecting crackers. So I set up a display and 3 people donated a total of $55.25. Not bad. That will buy us 27 more boxes of crackers. I also heard from the youth director that the teens collected 22 boxes of crackers at their regional program last weekend. It looks like we are on track to have 70 boxes of crackers by January 10.

More Crackers

Yesterday afternoon I went with my daughter (see photo) to pick up the latest donations of Tuna and Crackers. These donations are the first for the January distribution. We received 22 boxes of crackers and 29 cans of tuna. This is good because we need 70 of each before January 10th. I will also be collecting donations tomorrow night at the congregational Hanukkah party.

Food Heads to Waltham

Today, a father and son from our community came to my home pick up 70 boxes of crackers and 100 cans of tuna to take to our local food bank tomorrow. Their son recently obtained his driver's license. They said he will pick up every month between now and summer. If you ask me, this is the perfect mitzvah for a new driver to do.
